When a sculptor completes his work in clay, he prepares to make a mold of the piece so he can recreate it. He’ll have to do something to his artistic work to make this happen, and that is to cut it apart.
Edward McKendree Bounds (1835 – 1913) was an attorney, author and Methodist minister. He is most known for authoring nine books on the subject of prayer. Bounds is widely considered one of the foremost authorities on prayer.
Jesus never came to earth for such a purpose. When we attempt to drop Jesus into our company culture, with its capitalistic purpose and various hierarchies and processes, we are usurping the very Godhood of Christ.
Once a person surrenders their life to Christ, faith and leadership cannot be separated. It is “baked in”. The difference in Christian leadership is that faith takes point for the leader.
Why are you a leader? Are the resources and position you have solely for your own benefit, or were you meant for something more? Paul’s letter to Timothy gives an interesting take on the purpose and priorities of leading others.
Do you have the ability to continue in your course of action even when it becomes difficult, or you face opposition? This is the definition of persistence, and it’s a crucial leadership quality that you will need in work, marriage and home.
Don’t you wish someone had a set of hard-and-fast rules for leadership? If you just did these things then success is assured! Rules, though, typically come from the hard lessons of experience.
